How to Be Saved

How to Be Saved

There are four biblical facts a person must understand and accept/(believe) in order to be saved:

  1. The Fact of Sin.  For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). “All” means everyone.  “To sin” means to miss the mark or come short of God’s standard.
  2. The Fact of Sin’s punishment. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Please note the following:

      a. Sin pays. Your wages for being a sinner will be eternal death.

     b. God gives a gift.  Your gift, if you accept Christ, is eternal life.

     c. Jesus Christ is the source of eternal life. (Acts 4:12).

3. The Fact of Sin’s Remedy.  But God commendeth His love towards us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).  God had to face being holy, and yet, had a desire to redeem sinful man.  On the cross, Jesus, who was God manifested in the flesh, became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Thus, Christ died in the sinner’s place and paid the penalty for our sins.

4. The Fact of Man’s Need to Respond to God’s Offer of Salvation.  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (Romans 10:9)  For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13)
